Assessment requirements

Relevance: As a nursing student, it is crucial to develop the skills necessary to review and critically analyse the existing literature on a chosen area of professional practice or a topic of interest within the field of nursing. This task requires you to conduct a literature review and demonstrate your ability to summarise and analyse the current body of knowledge related to your chosen area.

Task Instructions: Write a literature review on your chosen area of professional practice or topic of interest in healthcare using the following structure:

Part B (1500 words)

1. Introduction (Approximately 150 words):

Provide background information about your chosen area of professional practice or topic of interest in healthcare. Include a thesis statement or aim and outline the key points that you will be discussing.

2. Background and Search Strategy (Approximately 200 words):

Introduce the chosen topic and its relevance to healthcare practice.

Present the significance of registered nurses' professional responsibility in addressing the chosen topic. Provide an overview of the databases searched, and the key terms used.

3. Critical Analysis of the Chosen Topic (Approximately 1000 words):

Use well-structured paragraphs to present your critical analysis.

Each body paragraph should deal with a different theme that is relevant to your topic. You will need to synthesise several of your reviewed readings into each paragraph so that there is a clear connection between the various sources. You will need to critically analyse each source for how they contribute to the themes you are researching.

The body could include paragraphs on:

historical background, methodologies, previous studies on the topic, different themes identified in the literature, principal questions being asked, and general conclusions that are being drawn.

Conclusion (Approximately 150 words):

Summarise the key findings and arguments presented in the literature review.

Emphasise the importance of registered nurses' professional responsibility and knowledge in the chosen topic within healthcare practice.

Discuss potential implications and recommendations for future research and nursing practice.

Suggested procedure

Review your course content and any extra materials on your chosen topic of interest.
