Canvas Resource |
A National Q&A session will be held during week two (2) of the semester. The Q&A session will unpack the assessment requirements. You will have the opportunity to ask the National LIC any questions or clarifications you require. A recording will be made post the session and the link made available on the ‘Modules’ tab under Assessment 1: Recorded information and Q&A session. Students are encouraged to post questions on the discussion forum on Canvas and to check for answers there as a first point of query. |

Task |
Students will develop a 10-minute narrated professional development resource using PowerPoint on end-stage heart failure (ESHF). The goal of the resource is to educate and inform final year nursing students. This is not a resource for general consumers or community members; therefore, you are required to use professional terminology. Your presentation must include the following: Introduction to palliative care and overview of the National Palliative Care Standards. Overview of ESHF and its Australian epidemiology. Include trajectory of illness and the impacts ESHF has across the lifespan with reference to a nursing model (e.g. Roper-Logan-Tierney) Focusing on the terminal phase of care explore the sign/s of fluid overload OR breathing difficulties. You must include discussion on: Pathophysiology focusing on understanding the sign/s chosen. Assessment and relevant nursing care during the terminal phase including: Physical care - A minimum of at least one (1) pharmacological AND one (1) non-pharmacological strategy to support chosen sign/s. Psycho-social care - A minimum of at least one (1) person- centred AND one (1) family/carer centred strategy to support terminal phase. Link care expectations to the National Palliative Care Standards. Discuss one (1) general legal and one (1) ethical care considerations at end-of-life. Intext referencing must be included in the slides and a reference list included at the end of the presentation. |

PowerPoint Structure |
Your presentation should follow this format: Slide 1: Title slide – Include your name and student number (No audio required for the title slide): Does not count towards your 10 Content slide limit if no audio. Slide 2: Introduction slide. Outline what you will be discussing, who your target audience is, and what you want your audience to learn. This is the first of your content slides. Slides 3-10: Content slides continued. Present information as outlined above and in reference to the rubric. You must use in-text citations at the point of the information. You are encouraged to use images/tables that support your explanation. These must be also be referenced. Slide 11: Conclusion. Summarise key points and link to the learning you wanted your audience to have from the introduction. Reference slides: Number as needed (approx. 1-2). Font size must be 12 or 14-point. (No audio required for the reference slides). Note: All slides which contain audio are considered to be ‘content’ slides and will count towards the 10-content slide limit. |

Submit via the Canvas dropbox in the NRSG374 Canvas site under the “Assessment” module. Submit one PowerPoint file only. The only file types accepted are .pptx, .ppt, .ppsx, .pps. Audio must be embedded in the file and not submitted as a separate file. Video is not required. |

Late Penalties
Late penalties will be applied from 2:01pm on the due date. 5% of the total marks available for an assessment will be deducted for every 24 hours (or part thereof) that the assessment is late - up to a maximum of 72 hours (and hence 15%). Assessment tasks received more than 72 hours after the due or extended date and time will not be allocated a mark.

Example: An assignment is submitted 12 hours late and is initially marked at 60 out of 100. A 5% penalty is applied (5% of 100 is 5 marks). Therefore, the student receives 55 out of 100 as a final mark. |
