HATM 3509 – Assignment: EDI Case Study Poster (20%)
Assignment Details:
Students will investigate and research a tourism and/or hospitality business or destination that has implemented an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiative.
Objective:
Create a visually appealing and informative academic poster that analyzes a real-world EDI initiative in the tourism industry. Students will design a 24 x 36 inch poster using graphic design software (Canva, Powerpoint, etc). The poster should include the following elements:
Overview:
Company/organization/destination name
Brief background of company/organization/destination
Specific EDI challenge or opportunity addressed
Description of EDI program or policy implemented
Timeline of implementation
Key stakeholders involved
Visual Representation:
Create an original infographic or diagram illustrating the initiative’s structure or process
Include relevant statistics or data visualizations
Include examples of images produced as part of initiative
Analysis and Recommendations:
If available, include measurable outcomes of initiative
Discuss challenges and solutions (
ie
, any obstacles encountered, creative solutions to overcome challenges)
Recommendations for improving or expanding the initiative
Potential applications to other areas of the tourism industry
Clearly communicate how this case relates to EDI in tourism.
Requirements:
All information must be sourced from primary research (company reports, company websites) or reputable secondary sources.
Balanced use of visuals and text.
Include citations in APA format, discreetly placed on the poster
Use a cohesive color scheme and professional design elements
